CUSTOM PACKING TAPE · PRACTICAL GUIDE
Choose the right tape. Make your logo work harder.
A branded parcel starts with a reliable seal and a clear design. Learn how to choose a tape backing, compare adhesives and prepare artwork before exploring your idea in the Neopak 3D configurator.

The configurator interface is in Polish. Choose “Taśma z nadrukiem” to start a printed tape project.
Custom printed packing tape combines carton sealing with brand identification. It can bring a consistent appearance to different box sizes without requiring a separate printed carton for every product. The key is to treat technical performance and graphic design as two equally important decisions.
Start with the parcel, not the artwork
Record the approximate parcel weight, the board you use, your packing temperature and the expected storage conditions. A tape that performs well on one carton may behave differently on another surface. Coatings, recycled fibres, dust and uneven closure can all affect the quality of the seal.
Test the proposed tape on a representative package. Apply it to a clean, dry surface with adequate pressure and inspect the closure after a suitable settling period. For demanding shipments, agree a relevant test with the supplier rather than relying on a generic statement such as “strong adhesive”.
PP, paper or PVC: understanding the backing
Polypropylene film tape
PP film is a common starting point for everyday packing. A white background can give the artwork a clear visual base, while transparent tape allows the carton colour to show through. Evaluate the design on the actual box colour, especially when choosing transparent material.
Paper packing tape
A paper backing creates a natural-looking finish on kraft cartons. Check whether the product is self-adhesive or water-activated: these require different application methods. Paper appearance alone does not establish recyclability; the complete construction and local recycling arrangements matter.
PVC packing tape
PVC options may suit applications where backing strength and dispensing comfort are priorities. Some variants offer quiet unwinding. Compare the specification of the particular product and test it with your cartons rather than assuming every PVC tape performs identically.

Produkty z kategorii: Taśmy z nadrukiemHow to compare acrylic, hot-melt and solvent adhesives
The backing and adhesive are separate parts of the specification. Acrylic adhesive is often considered for routine packing in normal indoor conditions. Hot-melt systems are based on synthetic rubber and are commonly chosen for initial tack. Solvent systems based on natural rubber are frequently considered for more demanding applications.
These descriptions are starting points, not universal performance guarantees. Ask for the application temperature and service temperature of the exact tape. A tape intended for a cold storage environment may still require application at a different temperature. No general adhesive label removes the need for a clean surface and proper pressure.
Prepare a simple, repeatable print
Choose one main element: your logo, brand name or a short message. Leave enough space between repeats so the design stays legible on a short strip. Fine lines, small lettering and long web addresses are harder to reproduce and read on narrow tape.
- Keep an original vector logo available for production review.
- Upload a file format currently supported by the configurator.
- Check the artwork at its intended physical size.
- Review the print direction and the gap between repeated elements.
- Agree the background colour and print colours before approval.
- If you include a QR code, test a physical printed sample for scanning.
A screen preview helps assess placement and proportion. It cannot guarantee an exact colour match: display settings, ink and the substrate all influence appearance.
Using the Neopak tape configurator
- Open the configurator and select “Taśma z nadrukiem”.
- Choose a film, paper or PVC starting variant.
- Set the available width, roll length, background, adhesive and quantity options.
- Add your design and compare the flat view with the 3D preview.
- Submit your enquiry and confirm the quotation and production artwork before manufacture.
3D refers to an on-screen product preview. It does not mean raised printing or that the tape itself is made using a 3D printer. The model is a design aid, not a production proof.
Compare quotations on a like-for-like basis
Record the backing, adhesive, width, roll length, print colours and quantity for every quotation. Also confirm any artwork or printing plate charges and the delivery terms. The cheapest roll is not necessarily the lowest-cost option if the roll lengths differ.
For stock planning, multiply parcels by average tape usage, then divide by metres per roll. For example, 800 parcels using 1.5 metres each require 1,200 metres: approximately 23 rolls of 54 metres before allowing for waste. This is a consumption example, not a production minimum. Confirm the actual minimum quantity and lead time for your configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print just a company logo?
Yes. A clear repeating logo is often easier to read than a dense combination of text and graphics. The final design still needs to meet the chosen printing process requirements.
Is printed tape a security seal?
Ordinary branded packing tape identifies the sender and closes the carton, but it is not automatically a tamper-evident security product. Choose a dedicated solution when evidence of opening is required.
Can I use the same artwork for different boxes?
Often yes. Check that at least one useful part of the repeat remains visible on smaller packages and that the technical tape specification suits every intended parcel.
What should I keep for a repeat order?
Retain the approved artwork, backing and adhesive specification, dimensions and colour references. Reconfirm availability, price and lead time for the new order.
